PLEASE HELP TOBY FIND HIS NEXT HOME

Meet five-year-old Toby, a handsome black-and-rust Doberman who weighs a perfect 65 pounds.

DRNM first met Toby in 2023, when a kind man rescued him from a highway in southern New Mexico. Like so many dogs who have been abandoned, Toby was running in the road, hoping every passing car might be his owner coming back for him.

His rescuer surrendered Toby to DRNM, and in early 2024 we found him a wonderful home with two people who have loved him dearly. Toby has thrived with them ever since.

Sadly, heartbreaking changes in his family’s circumstances mean they can no longer care for Toby, and he needs a new home quickly. His owner says it best:

“Toby has been a very good dog from day one. Accepted our routine real quickly. Just got better as time went on. Except for digging, chasing lizards, and chewing his bed cover. I would not be asking this if there was another way.”

Toby is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He loves every adult he meets—and greets them with plenty of Doberman exuberance! We don’t know how he is with children. His current family has not introduced him to other dogs, although his original rescuer reported that Toby was good with dogs.

Toby loves playing with his favorite ball, basking outside in the sunshine, and simply being with his people. He’s less of a lapdog and more of a classic Doberman leaner.

He is smart and learns quickly. Toby is crate trained and housebroken, rides well in the car, and even uses a doorbell to let his family know when he needs to go outside.

For the second time in his young life, through absolutely no fault of his own, Toby needs someone to give him a home. This time, we hope it will be forever. Please consider opening your home and heart to this handsome, loving boy.
